Information….
Install the screen between the
Transmission Cover and Transmission Casting using two gaskets. Apply RTV Gasket Sealer to both sides of the
gaskets. Apply a liberal smear of grease
to the top of the Oil Strainer and Transmission surfaces so that the gasket
will not stick to these surfaces. This
will provide a good seal, but when removing the cover for band adjustment or
screen cleaning, the gaskets will be stuck only to the transmission cover plate
and to the bottom of the Oil Strainer.
Note the collection of “stuff” in the
screen and on the magnet. This Oil
Strainer was on an engine that had just been rebuilt. After several hours running, the amount of
“stuff” diminished, but the magnet still collects plenty.
