Cam Gear Cover Alignment Tool

The cast cover for the Camshaft Gear must be properly aligned when assembled to the front of the engine. There are several tools available to do this. The best tool is one which assures that the timer housing is perfectly concentric with the camshaft.

This Alignment tool does just that.

Just slip the gage onto the end of the camshaft then align the cover by sliding the gage until it fits into the timer housing groove in the housing. Tighten the bolts securing the Cam gear housing to the engine then tighten those to the pan. Check to see that the gage moves freely and is not binding as you tighten the bolts.
